1. About this policy
This Privacy Policy describes how AMRescue (“AMRescue”, “we”, “us”, “our”), collects, uses, stores and shares personal information when you:
- visit www.amrescue.com or any other website that links to this policy;
- download, install, activate or use our software;
- use our free online tools to upload, repair or convert files;
- buy a license or request a free trial license;
- contact our support team, fill in a form, or request a business or Outlook service; or
- communicate with us by email, phone, chat or any other channel.
We decide how and why your personal information is processed, which makes us the “data controller” (or “data fiduciary” under Indian law). If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use our services.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
Depending on how you interact with us, this may include:
- your name, email address, phone number and company name;
- billing address and order details such as the product, license type and order or transaction ID;
- the contents of messages, tickets, forms and attachments you send to our support team;
- your preferences for newsletters and offers; and
- any other information you choose to share with us.
Please make sure the information you give us is accurate and up to date.
Payment information
Payments are handled by independent payment service providers. Your card, UPI, net banking or wallet details are entered on the provider’s secure page and are not stored by us. We receive only confirmation of payment, the amount, and limited order details needed to issue your license and keep financial records.
Information collected automatically
When you use our websites and software, we may automatically collect:
- IP address, approximate location (country or city level), browser type, device and operating system;
- pages visited, links clicked, referring page, date and time of visit and time spent;
- for our software: software version, license key status, activation details and technical error information needed to activate, update and support the software.
We use this information to keep our services secure and working, to prevent misuse, and to understand how our services are used.
Sensitive information
We do not seek to collect sensitive personal information such as health, financial account credentials, or information about race, religion or sexual orientation. Please do not send us such information unless it is needed to resolve your request. Photos, documents or emails you submit may incidentally contain personal information about you or others; see the next section for how we treat those files.
3. Your files
We know that photos, documents and emails can be deeply personal. How we handle them depends on which service you use.
Desktop software
Free online tools
When you use an online tool (for example, document repair or file conversion), the file you select is uploaded to our servers so that it can be processed. We use the file only to perform the repair or conversion you requested and to let you download the result. Uploaded and repaired files are automatically deleted after [24 hours]. We do not review the contents of your files except where necessary to provide support you have asked for, to maintain security, or where required by law.
Professional and business services
If you ask us to repair an Outlook profile or mailbox, or to provide remote support, we may need temporary access to your files or systems. We access only what is needed, keep it confidential, and delete any copies once the work is complete, unless you ask us to keep them or the law requires it.
4. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- Provide our services: deliver the software and online tools, issue and activate license keys, and process your orders.
- Support you: answer questions, troubleshoot problems and handle refund requests.
- Communicate with you: send order confirmations, license keys, security notices, and updates to our terms and policies.
- Market our products: send newsletters and offers where you have agreed or where the law permits. You can opt out at any time.
- Improve our services: understand usage patterns, fix bugs, and develop new features.
- Protect our services: prevent fraud, piracy, abuse and security incidents.
- Meet legal obligations: keep tax and accounting records and respond to lawful requests.
5. Legal bases and consent
We process personal information only when we have a valid reason to do so.
- Consent: for example, for marketing emails and non-essential cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time, and withdrawal does not affect processing carried out before it.
- Performance of a contract or service you requested: for example, delivering your license or repairing an uploaded file.
- Legal obligations: for example, tax, accounting and regulatory requirements.
- Legitimate interests / legitimate uses: for example, securing our services, preventing fraud, improving our products, and telling existing customers about related products, where your rights do not outweigh those interests.
- Protecting vital interests: in rare cases where necessary to protect someone’s life, health or safety.
If you are in India, we process your personal data in accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the bases described under the GDPR and UK GDPR.
7. Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep our websites secure and working, remember your preferences, measure how our websites are used, and, where applicable, understand the effectiveness of our marketing.
- Essential cookies are needed for the site to function and cannot be switched off.
- Analytics and marketing cookies are used only where permitted by law and, where required, with your consent.
We may use third-party analytics services such as Google Analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics using the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. Blocking some cookies may affect parts of the website.
8. International transfers
We are based in India, but our service providers and servers may be located in other countries, so your information may be processed outside your country of residence. Where we transfer personal information internationally, we use appropriate safeguards required by applicable law, such as contracts with our providers that require them to protect your data, and we limit transfers to what is necessary to provide our services.
You can contact us (see Section 17) to ask where your data is processed or to request more information about these safeguards.
9. How long we keep data
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, including to meet legal, tax, accounting and security requirements. When it is no longer needed, we delete, anonymise or securely isolate it. Typical periods are:
| Category | Typical retention | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Files uploaded to online tools | [24 hours] after processing | To let you download your result |
| Order, billing and license records | Up to [8–10] years | Tax, accounting and audit requirements |
| Contact and account details | While you are a customer, plus up to [3] years | Support, disputes and fraud prevention |
| Support emails and tickets | Up to [3] years | To resolve issues and improve support |
| Marketing preferences | Until you opt out or withdraw consent | To honour your choices |
| Website logs and analytics | Up to [2] years | Security, troubleshooting and improvement |
| Cookies | From session length up to [2] years | As described in Section 7 |
10. How we protect data
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, such as encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, limiting access to staff who need it, and secure deletion of uploaded files. We choose service providers with care and require them to protect your data.
No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities where the law requires.
11. Children
Our services are not directed at children under 18 (or the age of majority in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
12. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- know what personal information we hold about you and obtain a copy;
- correct or update inaccurate or incomplete information;
- request deletion of your personal information;
- restrict or object to certain processing;
- receive your information in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time;
- unsubscribe from marketing communications;
- nominate another person to exercise your rights if you die or become incapacitated (India);
- raise a grievance and receive a response; and
- not be treated unfairly for exercising your rights.
To use any of these rights, email us at [privacy@amrescue.com]. We may need to verify your identity first, and we will respond within the time required by law. Some rights are limited where the law requires us to keep information.
Marketing: use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or contact us. We may still send service messages, such as order confirmations and license keys.
Closing your account or deleting data: when you ask us to delete your information, we will do so unless we must keep certain records, such as billing records, to meet legal obligations or to prevent fraud.
13. Regional information
India
We process personal data in line with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. You may request access, correction or erasure, withdraw consent, nominate another person to act for you, and raise a grievance with our Grievance Officer (see Section 17). If your grievance is not resolved, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India.
European Economic Area and United Kingdom
You have the rights described in Section 12 under the GDPR and UK GDPR, including the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests. You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
United States, including California
Depending on your state, you may have rights to know, access, correct and delete your personal information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information. To make a request, contact us using the details in Section 17. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Other regions
If you live elsewhere, you may have additional rights under your local laws, such as under Australia’s Privacy Act 1988 or South Africa’s POPIA. Contact us and we will help you exercise them.
14. Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” setting. Because there is no common standard for responding to these signals, our websites do not currently respond to them. We will update this policy if a standard is adopted that we must follow.
15. Third-party links
Our websites may link to other websites, such as payment pages and social media. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their privacy practices. Please read their privacy policies before sharing information with them.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it was last changed. If we make material changes, we will post a notice on our website or contact you directly where required. We encourage you to review this page regularly.
17. Contact and grievances
For questions, requests or complaints about this policy or how we handle your personal information, please contact us. In line with applicable law, you may also contact our Grievance Officer.
