Quick Scan and Deep Scan
Quick Scan lists existing and recently deleted files in minutes. Deep Scan searches more thoroughly and can find files that no longer appear in the folder list. Plan on 15–30 minutes depending on the drive size.

Protection against overwriting
Saving to the drive you scanned can destroy the files you're trying to recover. AMRescue warns you and blocks it so you must pick a different destination.

No software can promise every file. Here's how to judge your chances.
Good chances
- Files you deleted and then emptied from the Recycle Bin, if little has been written to the drive since.
- Files on an SD card or USB drive that you deleted in the camera or on a PC.
- Files that lost their folder entry (for example after a quick format). Run a Deep Scan.
Poor chances
- Files that have been overwritten by new data. The more you used the drive, the lower the chance.
- Deleted files on some SSDs. The drive's TRIM function can erase them permanently.
- Drives that click, overheat or don't appear in Windows. These need a hardware data-recovery lab.

Frequently asked questions
Can I check my files before I pay?
Yes. The free demo scans your drive and lists what it finds. Photos can be previewed in the app. Saving recovered files needs a license.
Where should I save the recovered files?
On a different drive from the one you scanned. Saving to the same drive can overwrite the data you're trying to recover, so AMRescue blocks it. An external USB drive works well.
What's the difference between Quick Scan and Deep Scan?
Quick Scan lists existing and recently deleted files and finishes fast. Deep Scan searches more thoroughly and can find files that no longer have a directory entry. It takes longer (typically 15–30 minutes) and gives the best chance of recovery.
Does it recover camera RAW files like CR2 or NEF?
Photo Recovery Advanced covers the 32 photo, video and audio formats listed above. For corrupted camera RAW files that still exist on the drive, use Photo Repair Advanced.
Will it work on an SD card or USB drive?
Yes. Connect the card or drive so Windows gives it a drive letter, then select it in step 1. Don't format it or copy new files onto it before scanning.
What's the difference between Personal and Technician?
The software and features are identical. Personal is for one PC and non-commercial use. Technician is for commercial use (recovering data for clients) and can cover up to 25 PCs.
How do I get my license key?
It's emailed to the address you enter at checkout, usually within a few minutes of payment. Check your spam folder. If it hasn't arrived after 30 minutes, email support@amrescue.com with your order number.
How do I activate on a PC without internet?
Use Menu → Activate Offline in the app. It shows an activation key. Send it to support@amrescue.com with your order number and we'll reply with the details to complete activation.
Is there a refund?
30-day, 1-year and Lifetime licenses can be refunded within 7 days of purchase. The 7-day pass is not refundable. Details are in the refund and delivery policy.
Which payment methods can I use?
UPI, debit and credit cards, net banking and wallets, processed by PayU. Your card details go to PayU directly and are never stored by AMRescue.
